EIC Responsible Electronics Portfolio Annual Meeting 2026

On 5 and 6 February 2026, the European Innovation Council Retronics Portfolio held its annual meeting hosted by Grenoble INP UGA. The two day event brought together project partners, policy representatives, researchers and innovators for an intensive programme of scientific exchange, strategic discussion and ecosystem building focused on the future of responsible electronics. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration across the portfolio and to align ongoing research efforts with the broader objectives of the EIC Pathfinder Challenge on Responsible Electronics.

Strengthening the Responsible Electronics Portfolio

The Retronics Portfolio currently brings together eight EIC Pathfinder projects, working across materials science, device physics, manufacturing strategies and system level concepts, all aligned around a shared goal of enabling responsible and sustainable electronics in Europe. By fostering collaboration across these complementary research efforts, the portfolio accelerates progress toward electronics that are more energy efficient, resource conscious and environmentally sustainable.

The portfolio was further strengthened with the official welcome of a new ninth project, BAYFLEX, expanding the scope of Retronics toward sustainable computing and flexible electronic platforms. BAYFLEX focuses on fully organic and environmentally sustainable probabilistic computing systems, contributing new perspectives on low power architectures, flexible substrates and green artificial intelligence.

SUPERLASER is an active contributor to this collective effort, advancing ultra narrow linewidth perovskite laser technologies that combine high performance with solution processable fabrication routes. Through its participation in the Retronics Portfolio, SUPERLASER benefits from close interaction with sister projects, ensuring that its scientific developments are embedded within a broader responsible electronics vision that spans materials, devices, policy and future market impact.

Highlights from the Scientific and Policy Programme

The Retronics Portfolio annual meeting featured a dedicated scientific and policy programme with invited presentations from academia, research organisations and policy bodies.
